I think one way to keep kids busy during the Summer months is to definitely have a kiddie pool of some sort on hand and if you have a movable slide similar to what Little Tikes has then that can be placed just inside the pool for an even more fun pool experience.
When I’m babysitting them in the summer, their favorite thing to do is swim… which I don’t like all that much. I think our favorite thing to do together is go to the park or just run around the yard
I think a good way to keep them busy in the summer is going to all of the different area parks. We found out last year, with the dropping economy, that parks are a very cheap, but very fun activity for kids. There were so many parks that we never even knew existed, and found them by simply driving around until we found a new one. We make it even more fun sometimes by taking different foods to the different parks. We try a different recipe for every new park.
I try to keep my children busy by taking them to the beach, parks and little outtings to show them what the world holds for them, while teaching them how to behave and respect eac other and things.
We’re outside a lot in the summertime — there are lots of parks close to us, plus we live beside a huge bog, so it’s actually a little cooler to go for a walk in the bog trails.
This year we might take up geocaching — DS1 did that with his beaver camp last month and had a ball looking for the treasure.
We LOVE the spray parks! There are several of them near our house and our daughter (almost 5) loves them. This year we’re looking forward to introducing our little guy to them as well! A great way to cool off on a hot day and burn off excess energy, too.
I like to make sure my son is involved in some sort of activity during the summer, like sports, swimming lessons, karate, etc. I also always have fun outings to places like the park or kid’s museum on free days, zoo on free days and like to have crafts or artsy type activities on hand to do.
Chalk on the driveway. They’re currently into drawing maps. And when it comes to erasing, we get out the buckets, push brooms and water hose!
Our favorite thing is to put the sprinkler under the trampoline. My daughter loves bouncing through the water and sitting right in the middle to get soaking wet!
During the summer we love to go to waterparks, and the other parks too, we take the bicycle and the scooter, and lunch lol
Oh we defenetly do all outdoors, play ball, bikes, park
We got to the beach a lot, the park & we do the library reading program.
Wow – well, we love to get outside in the summer, but my son doesn’t like to get muddy (?!?) so we don’t do a lot of water stuff in the yard. Instead, we can spend hours and days using chalk to draw a whole town of streets and destinations (park, grocery store, friend’s house, etc) on the driveway and playing on it.
I’ve been trying to track down a used Plasmacar for a YEAR! Count me in!
We love to be outside in the summer. We do anything from jumping on the trampoline to going to the lake and going camping. Anything to enjoy the great outdoors.
We enjoy the library summer reading program, free water park, picnics, and playgrounds! And of course, visits to the beach and time in the pool!
We like to go to regular parks until it gets too hot here (we live in Texas); then we go to spray parks, the closest water park, or a friend’s pool to cool off. We always read lots of books through the library program. Bubbles, sidewalk chalk, and the sandbox are other fun activities. I want to get better at organizing art projects this summer!
My 3 year old just loves to be outside. He can be entertained endlessly with rocks and dirt. Add in a little water and we can be out there all day!
I’m relying on the neighborhood pool to provide a distraction (and to wear the kids out!) this summer!
How I keep the kids busy during the summer is by having neighborhood free activities. We go around and go nature walking and looking and various bugs and such. Also by teaching and learning different outdoor sports!
Hello. I am a mother of 8 kids. Had 3 of my own and adopted 5. Only 4 are living with me know, but the two youngest, 4 and 5, both have autism and ADHD. So do the 9, and 11 year old but they only have ADHD. My husband, 59, is a retired mechanic but home chronically sick because of his diabetes, kidney disease, and other various diseases and infections, which makes him and I both unable to go out to buy anything for our children because of the medical bills.

Any of the prizes would be wonderful!=]

my girls keep busy during the summer by playing out in the driveway with sidewalk chalk & bubbles. lots of fun in the sun!!
We will be going through a whole new summer this year as we have just recently moved to upstate New York from Florida due to my husband’s military placement. My kids only knew Florida, beaches, pools heat, etc. It is so nice to discover a whole new region. We plan on exploring all summer, as much as we can with the little money we have and spend as much time together before my Husband deploys for Iraq in October. My kids are young 3 and 5. I take my kids to the library to do “kid research” such as look for books about our new state and the environment and animals who live here. Then we try to go on day trips and picnics to see first hand what we learned about. I also try to incorporate arts and crafts and cooking experiences that all tie together to our topics. Its a lot of fun to make “ordinary” things so much fun.
HOLY COW is this an AWESOME giveaway!! I’d be happy with ANY of those ride ons for my two kids!!! I’m a big crafter so in the summer I like to do crafty things outside…..find all sorts of treasures and make a collage, do leaf rubbings, bubble paintings, give the camera to my DD who is 5 to get her perspective on things in our yard, neighborhood and the like.
I think kids like to swim during the summer. Turn your hottub into a cool tub. Summer heat keeps you away from the heat of the hottub so you might as well continue to use the tub. Turn the heat off and keep it cool for summer. Summer is a time to spend time with family whatever you decide to do.
I belive the best way to keep your kids busy during the summer is to do something fun, positive and helpful. This summer my kids and i plan to help out homeles animals by raising money and volunteering at our local animal shelter.
I give my kids spray bottles and they love spraying water everywhere in the yard — especially on the rocks, sidewalk, where they can sort of “paint” with the water spray. And if they spray each other, it helps to cool off on the hot days but doesn’t soak them like a hose would.
The beach is an excellent place to keep the kids cool and entertained during summer months. I like this because we are able to turn the AC off in the house and conserve energy. Just make sure to pack on the sun block.
Free library activities and reading clubs are a great way to keep the kids cool and active during summer months. I like to encourage them to continue reading even while school is out.
Thanks!
We keep the kids busy by taking them fishing. We take a picnic lunch and stay out all day. They really like going out in the boat, as well as fishing from the dock. The excitement on their face is priceless when they landed one, even if it’s a small one. Then when they get tired of fishing they can play in the water. We take them home tired, ready for supper and bathes. No fussing about going to bed either.
We purchase a used swing set cleaned it up and repainted it. a cheap way to keep them busy during the day. We also purchase a cheap computer thast keeps them busy during dayes that rain and at night.
Our library has a great reading program with lots of activities nd prizes for the kids. We make sure to participate every week. The kids love it!!!
