We had some fun this week painting Valentines using rubber cement to “mask” a swirly pattern. They turned out really pretty- here’s how we did it:
1. Start with the thickest paper you have. I made one with regular printer paper, and it mostly worked, but thicker paper is better such as card stock, drawing paper, etc.
2. Draw a rough heart lightly with pencil on the paper.
3. Open theĀ rubber cement, and drizzle it around on the heart. Let dry.
4. When it’s dry, paint with any kind of paint. We used both tempera and watercolors. Let dry.
5. Rub off the rubber cement with your fingers. It should peel right off. Then cut out the heart.
6. Write your valentine message on the back and deliver! |
