Eating out can be expensive, so it’s nice to know where you can get the best deal for your family. KidsEatFree.com has listings by state and city of restaurants where kids can eat free! If there are specific days and times that the deal applies, those are listed as well. It’s a really good resource to check whenever you plan to go out to eat with the kids!

Looking for free printable coloring pages of biblical scenes? I found a site that has lots of nice religious coloring sheets. Some have nice detail for the older crowd, and some are pretty simple for the little artists. You can color scenes from the Bible stories of the Old Testament and the New Testament, from Creation to Jesus. There are lots of especially nice Noah’s Ark pages!

MIT has created a free programming tool for kids called Scratch. From their website:
Scratch is a new programming language that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art — and share your creations on the web.
Scratch is designed to help young people (ages 8 and up) develop 21st century learning skills. As they create Scratch projects, young people learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the process of design.
This looks like a great tool for learning all kinds of things. It would inspire creativity as well as teaching the concepts of programming. The pieces of the program snap together like blocks so it’s easy to see how your program is going to work.
I found this site via the small.town.fun website, where there is always great content- check it out when you get a chance!

Fun and easy kid friendly recipes
May 15, 2007 | 2 Comments
Ready to make some fun recipes? I found several that are quick and easy to share with you:
Octopus Sandwiches - a hot dog cut into pieces lengthwise and then boiled makes some nice curly legs, and a hamburger bun and cheese complete creation!
Dessert Neckace - this sweet treat is made by stringing cereal onto licorice whips.
Orange Frost - you’ll need something to drink with this meal, so try an Orange Frost. Orange juice concentrate, ice, milk, water and sugar all blended up make a cool treat!

Build a roller coaster online
May 9, 2007 | 5 Comments
Via Casual Keystrokes, I found this cool site for all you future engineers where you can experiment with roller coaster building online.
It is your mission to design the coaster so that you can achieve maximum thrills and chills without crashing or flying off the track (unless that’s how you like your coaster to work!).
You accomplish the “mission” by changing the speed, height, gravity, friction, etc. I had lots of fun playing with it!

It’s always a challenge to keep kids busy on long road trips isn’t it? I found a site that has several different categories of printable games and activities to help pass the time in the car. They have several different bingo games, scavenger hunts, tic-tac-toe sheets, the lines and dots game (which I had totally forgotten about!), sing-along song lyric sheets and even a list of the 50 states so you can check them off as you play the license plate game.
These activities should cut down on the “will you stop touching me!” exclamations from the back seat!
