Religious Easter coloring sheets
March 27, 2007 | Leave a Comment

For many Easter only means the Easter Bunny and coloring eggs, but for those of the Christian faith, Easter is about Jesus rising from the dead. Here is a site that has lots of Easter coloring sheets that are centered on that message. You can color them online or print them out. Everything from Palm Sunday to Easter Day is covered. Hope you enjoy them!

Online ABC animal game for toddlers
March 25, 2007 | 2 Comments

I mentioned the games at the Fisher Price website a couple of months ago, but it was just a general link to the site. This time I’d like to point you to the ABC Animal game. As my son has recently begun to recognize letter shapes, we have made this game a daily visit. He LOVES it. When you press a letter, the letter pops up and then an animal that starts with that letter. The animal sounds are great. If you have a little one learning the alphabet I would highly recommend it.

Make an indoor golf game
March 22, 2007 | 3 Comments

Okay, this isn’t exactly free but it’s pretty cheap and I thought it was such a great idea I had to post it. The creative mom at the Scribbit blog posted about making a golf game for her kids out of dowel rods and aluminum cans. The only tools you need are a saw, a drill and some glue. Such a great idea- I can’t wait until my son is old enough so I can try it.

March 20, 2007 | Comments Off
Here’s a free printable worksheet that has the clocks set in 5 minute intervals that will help the little ones practice telling and writing the time. I found it at a nice site called Time for Time that has some good teaching resources for teachers and parents, including this page that has some games for even more practice with clocks.

Make a magazine house
March 18, 2007 | Leave a Comment
Via mommysavers.com, I found this cute craft idea that looks like it would really take a nice long time to do and get those creative juices flowing:
Using an old catalog or magazine, cut out pictures of chairs, tables, curtains, bathroom fixtures and other furnishings. Spread out a newspaper or large sheet of drawing paper. Sketch an “open sided” house. Have children place the pictures of the furnishings in the rooms of their choice. They can cut out more pictures to redecorate their house, cut out pictures of people, toys, pets, anything they like!

Veggie Tales games from Qubo
March 16, 2007 | 3 Comments
It used to be that you could only watch Veggie Tales on your VCR/DVD player, but now you can see them on Qubo on NBC Saturday mornings. Here’s a link to a fun Veggie Tales game that I think you’ll like. You shoot the little guy out of the catapult into a bucket of slime! There is also a Veggie Tales Alphabet Soup game where you scoop up verbs with a spoon- really challenging!
Thanks to Shelli for the tip about this site!

Featured Guest Blogger Stephanie C. recommends Berenstain Bears sites
March 12, 2007 | Leave a Comment
Today we have a new feature on Free Stuff 4 Kids: a Guest Blogger. Today’s guest blogger is 10 year old Stephanie C. from Reynoldsburg, Ohio. She has two neat sites to recommend:

Hi Kids! Do you want to visit a really fun web site? It’s all about the Berenstain Bears and it’s part of the PBS Kids website. I used to love the books when I was younger. This site reminds me of the books. I think the games are really fun. There is Dress A Bear, where you can try different outfits on Papa, Mama, Sister, and Brother Bear. There is a game called Story Time where you get to choose what happens in the story. There is Pack a Picnic, where you have to look inside the refrigerator and cabinets and drawers to find the items that you need, to go to the picnic. There is also What’s Wrong? Where you have to find the items that should not be there. There are also some other games that I will leave you to explore on your own. There is another web site: BerenstainBears.com. There are a couple of games for kids of all ages there. I like the Berenstain Bears Paper Dolls for younger kids and older kids. I like these web sites because I love to play games. I really like Dress A Bear, because I love to dress up. I enjoy finding the silly little things that should not be in What’s Wrong? I really enjoy Story Time because when you finish the story, it turns out so funny!
Would you like to be a featured guest blogger on this site? Do you have a game, craft or recipe you’d like to recommend to other kids? Please send me an e-mail at randa [at] randaclay [dot] com and let me know!

Free book download - Oz series by Frank Baum
March 8, 2007 | 2 Comments
I’ve mentioned downloading books for kids before, and here’s another site that has books for the older set. Librivox.org has over 400 works of fiction available for download (they also have non-fiction, poetry and other works), and they have some of my favorite books - the Oz series by Frank Baum. I know everyone has seen the Wizard of Oz, but did you know the author wrote a whole series of Oz books? They are wonderful- check out The Lost Princess of Oz and The Road to Oz.

Kool-Aid PlayDough
March 2, 2007 | Leave a Comment

I came across this new and improved version of homemade playdough on the Rainy Day Resource site. The Kool-Aid colors the playdough and makes it smell really nice- way better than that weird smell that regular homemade stuff has.
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 cup salt
1 1/2 cups boiling water
3 - 4 Tablespoons vegetable oil
Kool Aid
Add one package of Kool Aid mix, oil and food coloring to boiling water. Combine remaining ingredients, and mix well. As you knead it, the dough will get smoother. Store in airtight container. Delightfully scented, very pliable and easy to roll or sculpt.
